Kenmore Dryer
The part can actually be installed from the back of the machine. One screw to remove the exhaust duct and all three thermostats are accesible.

easy to install and repair
great DIY project, easy to install and trouble shoot the problem. Release the catches on the top of the drier by using a puddy knife, lean the top against the wall, remove the front of the drier(remove the screws holding the door and front) you don't have to unplug the door switch. Locate the heating assy. on the lower right of the drier, remove one mounting screw on the front holding the heater to the bottom of the drier. Pull the heating assy forward from the back of the drier, remove the wires attached to the thermostat and the front heat sensor (label wires) install new thermostat. Attach wires and install the heating element . (may have to twist heating element back and forth to get it to slip over the tube in the back of drier) install front door assy. insuring the door switch wire is not damaged , lower top of drier and insure it snaps over the metal clips in the front.

Just what I needed
Took less than 10 minutes to install. Shipping was just as much as the part (about $10), so that was disappointing considering this part is the size of a ping pong ball. This did arrive a day earlier than projected though.

Thermostat
I would have been better served to just go ahead and purchase the heating element at a higher cost which includes two thermostats. The problem is connecting the proper wires. I have replaced every thermostat and the thermister and still had to buy the element which still shows good on the ohm meter but at a lower reading.
